About Me

As it turns out, writing an “about me” is unexpectedly challenging! Where do you even start when trying to put into all the words all the things that make you YOU? How do you identify which little pieces of your personality and background — your identity — are important enough to include, and which aren’t?

I sat here thinking about what I’d want my bio to say if it were listed under a byline or for a panel. Something like… “Sarah Quinlan is a conservative feminist who is dedicated to America’s founding principles and bridging divides. She started writing about politics and culture at publications including the Buckley Club, RedState, Arc Digital, National Review, the Bulwark, and USA TODAY. Today she works at a nonprofit working to promote our country’s founding principles.”

Which is a good start! But still… incomplete. So here’s more.

I am a conservative and a feminist. While I have always been a conservative, it wasn’t until my mid-20s that I began to identify as a feminist. During the 2016 election season, I realized that I needed to do more to advocate on behalf of the principles I believed in: Limited government, the free market, the Constitution, and the United States of America, among others.

And as I identified as a feminist more and more, I understood the importance of listening to, and learning from, others’ experiences. I increasingly felt as though we were talking past each other, not to each other.

So I started writing. Which included posting on Twitter ;)

It was through Twitter that I met some truly incredible people (including my husband!) and learned more than I ever expected.

I now get to spend my days on truly meaningful work, centered on America’s founding ideals.
